Alexey V. Manasuev (Chairman of the Board)
Alexey V. Manasuev graduated from MGIMO in 1997 with a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and received his Master of Jurisprudence from MGIMO Institute of EC Law in 1999. Alexey has continued his legal studies in the United States, and in 2002 graduated from the L.L.M. International Tax Program of New York University School of Law. Alexey is admitted to practice law in New York and in the District of Columbia and is an active member of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation and New York State Bar Association Tax Section.
Currently Alexey is a U.S. tax partner at TaxChambers LLP, a tax boutique law firm in Toronto, Ontario. Prior to that Alexey held positions at Ernst & Young, KPMG LLP and Deloitte Tax LLP, and held other positions in both private and public sectors, including Central Bank of the Russian Federation and Black Sea Trade and Development Bank. Alexey has authored numerous articles on international tax and transfer pricing and has lectured at various universities throughout the United States. In addition to his professional career, Alexey has been actively involved in various volunteer activities, including founding MGIMO Alumni Association in North America. Alexey speaks English, Russian, German, and Spanish.
Vera Popova (President, Treasurer)
Vera Popova, year 2000 graduate of Department of International Information with a degree in Management of International Tourism, has an extensive background in Business Development, Marketing, Operations, Fundraising and non-profit development. After receiving an MBA in International Business from Fisher Business School of Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) Vera successfully worked for several companies including high tech, consulting, mobile applications, retail and non-profit. Diverse cultural and professional experience, creativity and wide knowledge base creates Vera’s unique approach to solving problems, delivering the results and seeing opportunities. At her leisure Vera teaches yoga and advocates healthy sustainable living. She has personal business ventures as well as multiple consulting clients.
Leyla O. Megrelidze (Vice President, Operations)
Leyla Megrelidze graduated from MGIMO in 2005 with a Specialist degree in International Economic Relations. Starting with her first position in “PRO-MARK” company in Moscow, Leyla has specialized in conceptualizing and managing cost-effective marketing campaigns and vendor negotiations in both international and domestic tourism. Expanding her professional skills in corporate communications, product positioning and branding and team leadership, Leyla worked as Senior Corporate Account Manager at “SKO Rosyugkurort” and then as Senior Manager of Outbound Tourism at “Otdykh-Sochi,” major tour operators located in Sochi, Russia. In 2007- 2008 as a Vice-Head of the Department of Tourism in the Administration of the City of Sochi, Leyla – in close cooperation with International Olympic Committee – managed the municipal government’s project preparing Sochi for Winter Olympic games’2014. In 2010-2011 Leyla held the position of Deputy Director of travel company “Otdykh-Sochi”. Currently plans to obtain Master’s degree in one of the American Business schools. Leyla speaks English, German, French and Spanish.
In addition to her professional carrier, Leyla has always been involved in volunteer activities and acts of charity. Leyla is formerly a member of the Russia national sports aerobics team, MGIMO-University.
